Darts
Singing for Memory is a weekly group using the power of song, friendship, tea and conversation to connect people with dementia and their carers, with others. The group provides a regular, safe space for people to have fun, sing familiar songs and create new ones. Professional musicians facilitate the sessions.
Accessing sessions during the pandemic became difficult for many families and led to people feeling isolated, so Darts designed a range of ways to keep participants living with dementia creative and connected. These included digital sessions on their website, garden gigs, radio slots and interactive CD/DVD newsletters.
Darts creates art with people in Doncaster to improve life, learning and health. They are an experienced team of artists, creative professionals and support staff making high-quality, inclusive, creative experiences across the borough of Doncaster. Their programmes are open to everyone, particularly those who have the least access to the arts.
Darts has been shortlisted for Best Age-Friendly Outreach in the 2022 Fantastic for Families Awards. Winners will be announced on 16 November 2022 in the free online awards ceremony.
