30 Stories of Family Arts:
Barnsley Museums

Barnsley Museums Kindred Programme encourages families with complex and multiple needs to view cultural and heritage activity as something they can engage in positively together to raise aspirations, build skills, and improve wellbeing.

Kindred offered eight x two-day programmes of outdoor activities including craft, art, nature identification at Cannon Hall and Worsbrough Mill Museums. During the pandemic, 20 families attended, with 59 individuals taking part from 13 districts around Barnsley.

Barnsley Museums offers inclusive, and innovative family programme across six museum and heritage sites. The family programme raises aspirations, building strong, cohesive communities, and is co-produced with participants.

Barnsley Museums has been shortlisted for the Audience Impact & Innovation Award in the 2022 Fantastic for Families Awards. Winners will be announced on 16 November 2022 in the free online awards ceremony.
