30 Stories of Family Arts:
Groundswell Arts

Sing Our Story is a bespoke music programme that works with families and professional musicians to co-write and produce a special song for their child based on their interests and personal story. It has been running for over 10 years across four boroughs and in Galway Ireland (funded by Youth Music).

During the pandemic, Groundswell worked with families referred through schools and Early Years settings. Groundswell also delivered the programme to families with children referred via Young Lives vs Cancer and foster families through Virtual Schools supporting care-experienced children.

Groundswell Arts is an arts and education charity based in Haringey North London. They are a combined arts organisation and work with music dance, visual arts, play, design, filmmaking, and puppetry to explore children’s and carers’ voices to draw out creativity within families. Groundswell have a strong interest in devising work with early years focus which often develops to include and incorporate older children, many of whom benefit from the same multi-sensory approaches.

Groundswell Arts has been shortlisted for the Audience Impact & Innovation Award in the 2022 Fantastic for Families Awards. Winners will be announced on 16 November 2022 in the free online awards ceremony.
